My leadership experience at SNHU truly blossomed within the graphic design studio class. I, entering into my first design studio class, had the opportunity to take the reins as team leader for two impactful projects. First, I led a collaborative mural project. This required me to submit my own designs, not only honing my own design skills but also, with having a team under me, effectively delegate tasks, foster open communication, and guide my teammates towards a cohesive vision. Witnessing the mural come to life as a collective effort was incredibly rewarding.
Secondly, I spearheaded the “SNHU Student Showcase,” an event highlighting the creative talents of our design program. In this role, I focused on project organization, team motivation, and ensuring clear communication between me and event organizers. I ended up taking a larger role than anticipated there as we only ended up with 3 team members which left me with many tasks, but in the end it was a fun challenge. It was inspiring to see the collaborative spirit and the level of talent showcased during the event. Leading these projects honed my communication, delegation, and problem-solving skills, all of which will prove invaluable in future creative endeavors.
